UNDER THE
SKIN
Under the Skin is a project created as series of mixed-media collages using printed self-portrait photography, acrylic paper and acrylic spray paint. The works explore the unseen layers of self — the parts we rarely show, often hide, and sometimes don’t fully understand ourselves. It is an exploration of the shadow: the silent, intimate, and complex aspects of identity that live beneath the surface of what we present to the world.
We move through life shaped by roles, expressions, language, and form — the visible “lines” of who we are. But beneath those lines lies the unspoken: fractured thoughts, contradictions, fears, and forgotten memories. These are the parts that don’t fit neatly into words, that resist clarity — yet are deeply true.
“Under the Skin” is about what exists in the in-between — the space between image and feeling, between performance and essence. The shadow is not darkness as absence, but a presence we often neglect: our vulnerability, our suppressed emotions, our internal multiplicity.
Through layered imagery, this series invites the viewer into that subtle territory — where form blurs, where clarity dissolves, and where meaning begins. It is a visual meditation on the beauty of what we cannot fully see or name — and an invitation to sit with what lives quietly, just beneath.
